Middlesbrough Borough Council's Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Fostering/Connected Carers Team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and guidance to foster carers and connected carers, ensuring children in their care experience a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
Your Role:
As a Fostering/Connected Carers Team member, you will play a vital role in supporting foster carers and connected carers, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to provide exceptional care for children in their homes.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Supervising Foster Carers: Providing regular supervision and support to foster carers and connected carers, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and resources to meet the needs of the children in their care.
- Building Relationships: Developing strong and trusting relationships with foster carers and connected carers, supporting their development and helping them to feel confident and valued.
- Assessing and Matching: Working with foster carers and connected carers to ensure that children are placed with the most suitable carers, considering their individual needs and circumstances.
- Case Management: Managing a caseload of foster carers and connected carers, ensuring their needs are met, and their wellbeing is supported.
- Promoting Stability: Working with foster carers and connected carers to promote continuity and stability for children in care, ensuring they have a secure and loving home.
- Multi-agency Collaboration: Collaborating with other professionals involved in the child's care, including social workers, education staff, and health professionals, to ensure a holistic approach.
- Promoting Positive Outcomes: Working to ensure children in foster care have the best possible opportunities to thrive and reach their full potential.
- Supporting Connected Carers: Providing specific support and guidance to connected carers (relatives or friends of the child), helping them navigate their roles and responsibilities.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Experience in Fostering: Demonstrated experience working with children in care, including a strong understanding of fostering principles and practices.
- Excellent Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with foster carers, connected carers, children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.
We Offer:
- Competitive salary: £40,476 - £42,708 per year. Experienced candidates with extensive relevant experience could earn between £46,547 - £49,114 per year.
