The Flight Operations Operational Support Specialist will provide key operational support and coordinate Flight Operations support activities to ensure the integrity of Air Canada, Connector and Contract carrier operations.
Responsibilities
- Compile and report daily performance and shift synopsis. Report incidents, irregular operations and other information that may warrant special attention.
- Investigate delays assigned to Flight Operations and challenge when necessary.
- Review trends with regards to operational issues.
- Investigate reasons for all Flight Operations delays. Ensure recording of delays is correct and maintained.
- Contact Flight Crew to determine causes of delays and other losses of efficiency.
- Monitor on a continuous basis, the possibility of service disruptions to ensure preventative and/or corrective action is taken.
- Manage FCR/Voyage report program – monitor client issues, coordinate and follow up required corrective actions.
- Manage documentation related to the program.
- Provide training and coaching to the management team on the Voyage program
- Manage Flight Operations iPad (P-EFB) administrative support and distribution processes.
- Responsible for maintaining the P-EFB ADMIN GUIDE and P-EFB Safe Codes documents. Verify the alignment of all manuals and processes regarding P-EFB administration.
- Act as point of contact for the Support Coordinators and Base Management for all P-EFB issues. Train all Support Coordinators to administer loaner and replacement P-EFBs and accessories.
- Maintain control of SharePoint tracking of all P-EFBs and accessories. Submit SharePoint change requests to Document Management.
- Administer P-EFBs to all new hire pilots and present demonstration
- Setup all Contract Instructors with (Bring Your Own Device) BYOD EFB access and manage spares for Contract Instructor use.
- Monitor brake release times and actual push times to ensure accurate out times are recorded.
- Monitor arrival times and brake set times to ensure accurate in times are recorded
- Monitor Ground Power Unit and Ground Handling Unit connections to ensure Auxiliary Power Unit usage at the gates is minimized.
- Monitor Hawkeye traffic and ensure Hawkeye’s are responded to and issues addressed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree or diploma with a focus in Aviation Studies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Able to adapt to constantly changing operational situations, and make quick decisions and under tight deadlines.
- Proven problem-solving skills within a team environment
- Goal oriented with a positive, creative approach to achieving objectives
- Must be able to work day, evening and weekend shifts
- Knowledge of radio work
- Previous experience working in an airline operational environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of computer systems currently in use, e.g. Microsoft Office Suite
