About the Role
As a Social Worker in our First Contact and MASH Team, you will be responsible for:
- DA Triage: Efficiently assessing and triaging all incoming Duty and Assessment referrals, making informed decisions about the urgency and level of risk involved
- Contact and Referral Management: Handling a high volume of contacts and referrals, providing expert advice and guidance to professionals and families
- Threshold Decisions: Applying your knowledge and experience to make critical threshold decisions within a 24-hour timeframe, determining the level of intervention required for child protection
- Safety Planning: Working with families to develop effective safety plans, addressing immediate risks and ensuring the child's safety is paramount
- Signs of Safety Framework: Implementing the Signs of Safety framework to support families in identifying and managing risks, promoting their strengths and resilience
This is a non-caseholding role, offering a structured working pattern:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- 3 days in the office: Based in Newton Aycliffe
- 2 days working from home: Flexible working arrangements supported.
Who we're looking for:
We are seeking a highly experienced and confident Social Worker who thrives under pressure, demonstrates excellent decision-making skills, and is passionate about safeguarding children.
You will need:
- A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)
- A valid Social Work England registration
- Significant experience working within a child protection context, including experience in DA Triage, threshold decisions, and safety planning.
- A strong understanding of the Signs of Safety framework and its practical application.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
