Randstad is seeking an experienced Estimator for a valued client in the residential project construction industry on the Gold Coast. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator, with expertise in construction, manufacturing, and modular.
As an Estimator, your responsibilities will include:
- Interpret Drawings & Quantity Take-offs: Analyse architectural and structural drawings, and prepare bills of materials.
- Tender Preparation: Develop competitive tender packages, secure optimal pricing, and maintain a cost database.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Collaboration: Build relationships with suppliers and project teams to meet client requirements and budgets.
- Cost Monitoring & Adjustments: Track and adjust project costs based on scope changes or market conditions.
- Post-Project Analysis: Provide cost analysis reports to improve future estimations.
- Communication & Negotiation: Communicate and negotiate effectively with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- Qualification & Expertise: Apply estimating expertise, cost management skills, and knowledge of relevant codes and software.
This is a newly created position for the client, as it was previously incorporated under another role within the team. This makes the role well-suited to someone looking to grow their career and take a lead role in estimating.
To be successful, you will need:
- Experience with reading, interpreting, and pricing construction, production, and manufacturing costs
- Highly developed analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to interpret drawings
- Excellent communication, time-management, and negotiation skills
The following attributes would be advantageous but not essential:
- Trade experience in this field (preferred but not critical)
- Experience in sustainability-focused construction projects is advantageous
