Responsibilities
- Utilize a custom estimating tool (Excel-based) to perform cost estimates
- Analyze tender documents and prepare bids and RFPs
- Review specifications for take-offs and quantity calculations
- Conduct site visits during bidding phase
- Research and assess project costs
- Request and follow up on quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
- Analyze and compare received quotes
- Prepare preliminary work schedules
- Periodically assist project manager and directors with estimating additional work and other related tasks
- Participate in internal kick-off meetings to share relevant information about specifications, ensuring smooth project progression and profitability
Qualifications
- 8 to 10 years estimation experience, ideally in large scale commercial or industrial projects
- Technical training in engineering technology or engineering
- A valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel to sites in Canada and the USA (approximately 20% - 30%)
- Proficiency in estimating software is an asset
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel knowledge
- Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written); proficiency in French is a bonus
