Responsibilities & Key Deliverables:
- Strategy and Development
Engineering Oversight: Assume overall responsibility for engineering activities across the business.
Best Practices Implementation: Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to enhance business performance.
Strategic Alignment: Ensure engineering strategies and processes align with business objectives and operational needs concerning price, quality, and delivery targets, enabling the company to compete effectively.
Risk Management: Evaluate business challenges, take action to mitigate risks, and develop opportunities.
Business Strategy Contribution: Contribute to the overall business strategy and annual budget process.
Policy Ownership: Take ownership of the engineering policy, guidelines, and associated documents.
Innovation: Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes.
- General and Task Management
Technical Support: Provide technical support to the business development, estimating, and onsite engineering teams.
Build Design Oversight: Oversee all aspects of build design from contract award to handover.
Documentation Preparation: Lead the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issuance and analysis of returned tenders.
Value Engineering: Assist projects with value engineering and financial control of contracts during the construction stage.
Resource Planning: Develop planning and prioritization processes to ensure that multi-disciplinary resources are well-aligned to maximize project delivery.
Qualification Documentation: Support new equipment or engineering activities with appropriate qualification documentation and ensure proper storage of up-to-date drawing
Project Management Support: Support project management in cross-functional activities required for project execution.
Reporting: Report engineering activities regularly to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- People Management
Leadership: Provide leadership to engineering departments, coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, and manage a high-performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value, and cost reductions.
Performance Monitoring: Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance.
Communication: Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate information exchange and implement changes and improvements.
Organizational Structure: Develop an appropriate organizational structure, resource plans, and culture to support business objectives and customer deliverables.
Team Development: Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained to achieve operational and financial metrics within their responsibilities and succeed in their roles.
Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues, and procedures as appropriate.
Strategy and Best Practices: Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achievement of business objectives, working with the engineering team to translate site strategy into specific performance goals and departmental objectives, including KPIs, and track progress.
- Financial Budget and Control
Budget Preparation: Prepare the annual engineering budget and forecasts, and all capital expenditure proposals, ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements.
Budget Management: Manage the budget from project identification to completion, holding responsibility for engineering budgets.
- Relationship Management
Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Project Prioritization: Work with the leadership team to prioritize engineering projects against business targets and available resources.
Collaboration and Compliance: Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the engineering strategy.
New Business Initiatives: Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, reviewing and communicating the impact on engineering activities.
Sales Support: Support the sales team in developing product specifications and quote activities.
Client Requirements: Appraise and interpret client requirements to ensure the technical, legislative, and commercial aspects are delivered on each project.
Coordination: Liaise and coordinate with clients, the engineering team, and contractors on technical and commercial issues.

Qualification & Other Requirements:
- Educational Background: B.Tech/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 15-20 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years plus in a leadership role within the renewable energy sector.
