We are seeking a dedicated Design and Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Leeds on a long-term basis, starting in January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for D&T to support both students and staff in delivering high-quality practical learning experiences.
Location: Leeds
Salary: £22,000 - £23,454 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: January 2025

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a D&T Technician or in a similar role within an educational or practical setting.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in a technical subject or equivalent).
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Creativity and innovation to support students' practical learning.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical skills in D&T.
- Organisational skills to ensure materials and equipment are prepared and maintained.
- High attention to detail in ensuring safety and quality.
- Knowledge of the D&T curriculum and teaching requirements.
- Adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Design and Technology with department planning and organisation.
- Prepare teaching materials, including tools, equipment, and resources.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and productive working environment for both students and staff.
- Provide regular classroom support, particularly assisting students who require additional help.
- Assess and manage the risks associated with technician tasks to ensure safety standards are met.
