We are seeking a dedicated Design and Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Leeds on a long-term basis, starting in January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for D&T to support both students and staff in delivering high-quality practical learning experiences.

Location: Leeds
Salary: £22,000 - £23,454 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: January 2025

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a D&T Technician or in a similar role within an educational or practical setting.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in a technical subject or equivalent).
• Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Effective communication and organisational skills.
• Strong classroom management abilities.

Skills:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Creativity and innovation to support students' practical learning.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical skills in D&T.
• Organisational skills to ensure materials and equipment are prepared and maintained.
• High attention to detail in ensuring safety and quality.
• Knowledge of the D&T curriculum and teaching requirements.
• Adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Design and Technology with department planning and organisation.
• Prepare teaching materials, including tools, equipment, and resources.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and productive working environment for both students and staff.
• Provide regular classroom support, particularly assisting students who require additional help.
• Assess and manage the risks associated with technician tasks to ensure safety standards are met.
