Our client is looking for an experienced Document Controller to join the team at a leading main contractor based in the North East. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, controlling, and distributing documentation for construction projects, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. This is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of information and documentation between project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain document control systems, ensuring accurate and timely distribution of project-related documentation
- Ensure all project documentation is stored and maintained in line with company protocols and regulatory requirements
- Assist in the preparation, collation, and distribution of project documentation such as drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence
- Track and update document versions, ensuring all stakeholders have access to the latest information
- Support project teams with document management procedures and tools, providing training when necessary
- Coordinate with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure documentation is reviewed, approved, and distributed within required timeframes
- Maintain project filing systems, both electronic and hard copy, ensuring documents are easily accessible and archived appropriately
- Produce regular reports on document status, outstanding actions, and compliance with document control processes
- Ensure compliance with project-specific document control requirements, including adherence to deadlines and project milestones
- Assist in managing project communications and ensuring all correspondence is documented appropriately
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Document Controller within the construction industry, preferably working with a main contractor
- Strong understanding of document control processes and systems, including experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of industry standards, such as ISO 9001, would be advantageous
