Company Overview: One of the UK's leading contractors, who specialise in construction and development internationally. They have a pipeline of work worth over £1 billion, this specific highways project is worth over £500 million.
Role Overview: This international contractor is seeking a skilled Design Manager, with expertise in highways infrastructure to lead and coordinate the design efforts for a range of highways projects. The initial project will be focussed around the Norwich/ Cambridge area, and will be ongoing for over three years.
This Design Manager will be joining the Project Technical Team that operates centrally within the Delivery Integration Partner and is responsible for the development of scheme solutions throughout their life cycle e.g. pre-contract, pre-construction, delivery, and handover.
Location: Norwich/ Cambridge. Beginning on-site with hybrid working to be implemented.
Salary: Negotiable (£62,000+ depending on experience) + benefits (see below)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design process for highways and civil infrastructure projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
- Implement and manage Project Utilities process for efficient delivery of Utilities diversions.
- Support the set up of Project Technical Integration dashboards.
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and client expectations.
- Develop and manage design schedules, budgets, and resources using software tools such as Asta or P6.
- Identify risks, manage changes, and resolve design-related issues to maintain project timelines and quality.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in highways infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in design planning software such as Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- Chartered Engineer is preferable but not required.
- Knowledge of relevant design codes, regulations, and best practices in highways and infrastructure design.
