Position Overview:
The Deputy Manager for Internal Audit will assist in overseeing the internal audit processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency within the organization. This role involves planning and conducting audits, assessing risks, and providing recommendations to improve the company's internal controls and governance processes. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Planning and Execution:
- Assist in the development of the annual audit plan.
- Conduct audits according to the plan, including risk assessments, process evaluations, and control testing.
- Ensure that audit procedures are performed in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess areas of significant business risk.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the company's risk management processes and recommend improvements.
Internal Controls:
- Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, and application of accounting, financial, and operational controls.
- Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
Reporting:
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-documented audit reports for management.
- Present audit findings and recommendations to management and the audit committee.
Follow-up Audits:
- Conduct follow-up audits to monitor management's interventions and ensure that audit recommendations are implemented effectively.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Assist in the training and development of internal audit staff.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior auditors.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Foster effective communication and relationships with key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with management to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, internal policies, and international standards.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and emerging risks that could impact the company.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or equivalent is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred.
