Position Overview:As a Defect Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of defect identification, resolution, and prevention on our commercial apartment construction projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the quality of work meets industry standards, client expectations, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Defect Identification & Management:
Conduct thorough inspections of completed works, identifying any defects or issues that require attention.
- Coordination & Communication:
Work closely with construction teams, subcontractors, and clients to address and resolve defects in a timely and professional manner. Provide clear communication and regular updates regarding defect resolution progress.
Ensure that all defects are addressed in line with quality assurance processes and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
- Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of defect issues, resolutions, and corrective actions taken. Prepare detailed reports for clients, senior management, and relevant stakeholders.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding defect management, ensuring customer satisfaction and high-quality service delivery.
- Team Leadership & Training:
Lead and mentor a team of defect inspectors and construction professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure defect management best practices are followed.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in defect management within the commercial construction industry, particularly on apartment building projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, defect identification, and rectification methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Relevant qualifications in construction or a related trade in field (e.g., Cert IV in Building and Construction or qualifed carpenter).
- Knowledge of the local building codes and standards applicable to the Gold Coast and Queensland.
