The Position

The Data and Strategy Governance Branch seeks an experienced Senior Data Governance Officer with a strong background in data governance, agile project management, and policy analysis.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Work under the limited direction of senior staff, exercise initiative and judgement in policy interpretation and in the application of practices and procedures.
• May specialise in a particular function, such as Data Governance, Metadata Management (e.g. recording of data assets and data definitions using defined standards) and Data Exchange Management.
• Manage and organise their own work against competing priorities, including contributing to section and branch plans and business improvement strategies.
• Provide data stewards and other data users with support and information, including tools and templates, guidance on processes and procedures, and how to apply protocols.
• Ensure agency-wide adherence with data governance and assurance practices
• Help, develop, implement and maintain data governance and management documents that contribute to improvements in best practice
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to support uplift of the agency's data governance and management maturity
• Support development of an implementation plan for the Governance of Indigenous Data

Successful candidate attributes:

Candidates will exhibit excellent policy interpretation and writing skills. The role is crucial for governing the organisation and data assets.

Candidates MUST be an Australian Citizen to apply. Successful applicant will be required to undertake a baseline security clearance.
