We're offering an opportunity for experienced counsellors to work with students referred to us from the University of Salford. This role is designed to provide short-term, solution-focused support to help students manage their mental health challenges.
Key Details:
... - Client Base: Students will be referred on a short-term basis for six sessions. These students may be dealing with various mental health challenges such as anxiety, procrastination, self-esteem, eating disorders, or exam stress.
- Session Format: Counsellors are required to provide face-to-face sessions. Sessions will be based in the Allerton Building at the University of Salford. For these in-person sessions, you'll be able to hire a room and block-book a full day or multiple days depending on your availability.
- Contract: You will operate on a contract for services basis. We cannot guarantee a set number of hours as this is dependent on the number of referrals received.
Working Arrangements and Pay:
- In-person: £30 per hour.
- Remote: £28 per hour.
- Holiday Pay: On top of your hourly rate, you will accrue 12% of your average pay in holiday pay (Approx. £3.37 per hour). This means for every hour worked, you'll be building up paid leave which you can use during quieter periods such as summer or holiday breaks.
- Client Management: You will receive student referrals from us, along with relevant background information and an understanding of what the student hopes to achieve. You'll be responsible for making the initial contact with the student and arranging sessions. If a student fails to attend without 24 hours' notice, you'll still be paid for the missed session. After two missed sessions, we'll refer the student back to the university.
Your Responsibilities:
- Counselling Support: Offer therapeutic support on a one-to-one basis to help students develop coping strategies, overcome emotional barriers, and address specific issues such as anxiety, self-help, and exam panic.
- Student Engagement: Build a strong rapport with the students to encourage open communication and help them set achievable goals during their sessions.
- Safeguarding and Confidentiality: Adhere to both Randstad and University safeguarding policies. You'll be expected to follow all risk assessment processes and escalate any safeguarding concerns appropriately. All information shared within sessions must be handled confidentially, in compliance with GDPR.
What We're Looking For:
- Professional Membership: You must be a member of the BACP or NCPS, with accreditation.
- Clinical Supervision: It's essential that you engage in regular clinical supervision to maintain the standards of your practice and continue your professional development.
- Experience: A minimum of 200 clinical hours is required. Experience in a university or similar setting, where you've worked with young adults or managed a counselling caseload, would be beneficial but not essential.
Desirable Skills:
- Risk Management: Confidence in assessing risk and managing safeguarding concerns effectively.
- Triage Skills: The ability to quickly assess student needs and refer to appropriate services if needed.
