Randstad is working with an international project management and cost management consultancy who are looking for a Commercial Director to join its growing operations in Riyadh. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional at Director level or someone looking to take the next step into a leadership role from Senior Manager level.
As Commercial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the cost, commercial, and contract management functions across large-scale build projects in the Middle East. You will take a strategic, yet hands-on approach, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest commercial and financial standards while maintaining strong client relationships. Additionally, you will drive business development efforts, helping to expand the company's presence and secure new opportunities.
This is a leadership role that requires deep industry expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance technical, financial, and business development responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage commercial teams across multiple large-scale projects, ensuring seamless project delivery.
- Take ownership of cost, contract, and commercial management, from pre- to post-contract stages.
- Provide strategic direction on commercial best practices, procurement strategies, risk management, and financial controls.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
- Drive business development and growth, securing new projects and expanding the company's regional footprint.
- Oversee commercial negotiations, contract administration, and dispute resolution to protect the company's and clients' interests.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements while delivering cost-effective solutions.
- Mentor and develop commercial teams, creating a high-performance culture within the organisation.
To be considered, candidates must have:
- Proven experience in cost, commercial, and contract management on large-scale build projects in the Middle East.
- Background working in top-tier project/cost management firms.
- A hands-on leader with the ability to develop and execute commercial strategies while being involved in the details of project delivery.
- Strong business acumen, with a track record of driving business growth and winning new work.
- Degree educated, ideally in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Chartered status (MRICS, FRICS, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of Middle Eastern construction markets, industry standards, and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Experience in leading diverse teams and managing complex, high-value projects.
