Middlesbrough Council's Children's Services is seeking dedicated and experienced Children's Social Workers to join our dynamic Children in Need and Child Protection Teams. We are committed to providing high-quality support and protection to children and families in need, ensuring their safety and wellbeing are prioritized.
Your Opportunity:
You will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children and families in Middlesbrough, working within two essential teams:
Children in Need Team:
- Early Intervention and Prevention: Working with families to address early signs of need and prevent escalation of concerns.
- Supporting Families: Developing and implementing support plans to help families overcome challenges, improve their parenting skills, and build stronger relationships.
- Promoting Child Wellbeing: Focusing on the child's wellbeing, ensuring their needs are met, and promoting their development and growth.
Child Protection Team:
- Safeguarding Children: Investigating allegations of abuse and neglect, ensuring the safety and protection of children at risk.
- Case Management: Conducting thorough assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating services with other agencies.
- Court Work: Providing expert testimony in court proceedings, advocating for the child's best interests.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families.
- Developing and implementing individualized care plans.
- Working collaboratively with families, other professionals, and agencies.
- Providing support and guidance to children and families.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Maintaining accurate records and case files.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Strong assessment and case management skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough assessments and develop effective care plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals.
- Commitment to safeguarding children: Passion for protecting children and families, ensuring their rights and wellbeing are prioritized.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team: Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a dynamic team environment.
