Responsibilities
Supervise the engineering team and ensure the timely delivery of designs, drawings, NC programs, and final work instructions for fabricated sheet metal products.
Provide mentorship and training to all engineering team members, fostering growth and skill development.
Serve as the main engineering liaison for internal departments, including manufacturing, estimating, sales, and customer service.
Engage with customers and suppliers as necessary to address engineering-related queries.
Develop, implement, and maintain engineering procedures and standards to ensure consistency and quality.
Handle managerial tasks such as coordinating payroll information, managing team schedules (work and vacation), and assigning tasks to team members.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across engineering and other related areas of the business.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in 3D CAD design, preferably using SolidWorks.
Strong background in sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
CNC programming experience, especially in sheet metal laser cutting, punching, and bending (experience with specific machinery is a plus).
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Expertise in SolidWorks CAD software.
Experience with SolidWorks VBA Macro programming.
Knowledge of Prima-Power NC Express punching software.
Experience with Trumpf TruTops (Classic/Boost) software for punching, laser cutting, and bending.
Familiarity with Salvagnini bending software.
Experience using Epicor ERP software.
Knowledge of robotics and automation equipment.
Strong background in product design, cost estimation, and cost reduction.
Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
SolidWorks certification is a plus.
