- Conduct Japan landscape analysis of seed & biotech early-stage opportunities for Global deal as well as in-/out-licensing & M&A opportunities for Japan deal - Develop BD&L strategy for the company at Japan in close collaboration with Head of Collaborate To Cure Japan, Japan Pharma Leadership team, and Global BD&L teams - Act as a door opener and ambassador for our company PH and especially BD&L PH by initiating first contacts to relevant stakeholders and potential partners and foster relationships leading to meaningful interactions with them in Japan - Act as “first filter” of all incoming partnership opportunities including research collaboration, early/late-stage in/out-licensing, and M&A, based on deep understanding of scientific and business needs - Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage business development activities mainly at clinical or commercial stage through partnerships, alliances, mergers, or acquisitions that will contribute to the organization’s short and long-term business goals - Prepare and lead assessment of external opportunities, including due diligence, together with relevant functions - Present projects for Non-binding offer (NBO) / Binding offer (BO) to local and global decision bodies, managing key stakeholders in order to gain support for project - Negotiate full contractual agreement and Close deals under supervision of Department head - Manage existing alliances and establish long-term professional relationships with potential partners at clinical or commercial stage to promote PH as a partner of choice - Support Innovation & Ecosystem activation activities and events falling under the accountability of the CtCJ - Support Global BD&L deals as well as Regional deals for the PH divisions, including out-licensing and divesture activities of non-strategic assets - Take project team leadership and team coaching and development roles in the department
求められる経験
- Master degree or more in a scientific discipline (biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, protein science, cell biology, gene technology, chemistry)
- Master degree in a Business administration preferred
- At least 7 years of working experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical industry
3-5 years of working experience in Business Development or equivalent experience, e.g. corporate development, M&A, in the pharmaceutical industry is essential
- Experience in Research & Development divisions in the Pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Strong business sense to identify opportunities, structure deals, conduct financial analysis, negotiate terms and close deals. Aggressive and result oriented
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization and lead teams and manage complicated projects; ability to influence senior members of the firms
- Strong analytical skills & a solid ability to understand complex business issues
- Good communicator and networker, assertive and resilient
- Excellent written, fluent verbal skills, and presentation skills in both Japanese and English
- Good knowledge of relevant IT systems (MS office, Excel, SAP)
- Good understanding of the value drivers of PH
- Fluent in Japanese and very good command of English; additional knowledge of German is a plus
