We’re looking for an experienced automation engineering manager with a background in industrial machinery or related industries to build a client facing team and deliver profitable projects. If you have experience in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems mainly in industrial machinery you’d be a great fit for this role.

Responsibilities
- Document customer requirements via face-to-face meetings or technical documents, collaborate and lead with internal teams to review the requirements and project details.
- Facilitate and lead hardware/software design using established standards and resources as required.
- Effectively communicates the status of projects to the customers and the management.
- Lead by example and coach team members in the commissioning and testing of all systems defined under scope of work. Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots the issues with contractors and/or customers to ensure proper operation.
- Provides project specific training for machine operators as required.
- Assists in development of system operation manuals and training material based on project deliverables.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to junior resources and shares experience and knowledge in a collaborative environment.
- Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential applications.
- Develops programming estimates to support cost estimation for quoting.
- Ensure all documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately upon project completion.
- Track “lessons learned” on projects and share the information with the engineering and sales teams.
Qualifications
- BS Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent preferred).
- 5-8 years direct hands-on work experience designing, programming, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems mainly in industrial machinery or related industries.
- Possesses advanced knowledge and thorough understanding in the areas of control system integration, application programming and system design.
- Background in electrical and instrumentation wiring and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of the applicable Ontario or Canadian Electrical Codes.
- Basic understanding of hydraulics.
- Understanding of variable frequency drives (VFD).
