Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide financial support and advice to the staff across the department on a diverse range of financial practices. You will also coordinate the organisation’s financial management and compliance responsibilities, whilst supporting ongoing business improvement opportunities.
Your contribution (key responsibilities and accountabilities)
To be successful in this role you will:
... - Assist in the department (global) end of month and year financial processes, including preparing monthly accruals and reconciliations of the general ledger, generating recurring and prepayment documents and preparing monthly reports ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, applicable legislation and standards is achieved.
- Monitor and maintain the department (global) monthly cashbook and corporate card reconciliation processes, including reviewing and analysing expenditure, investigating potential errors.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining the department corporate card program including Commbank card manager administration, tailored corporate card training for domestic executives and senior executive international delegates. In addition to assisting with the administrator responsibilities for the department Corporate Travel Management (CTM) booking system.
- Undertake and maintain the department vendor master data change/creation processes, including domestic and international payment processes.
- Prepare and maintain various registers and reporting activities to ensure the department remains compliant with relevant legislation, required accounting standards.
- Assist with the development of the department financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements is achieved.
- Provide necessary training and support to the department's internal domestic and international network and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders within Australia and the overseas offices to effective communication strategies, procedures and to achieve successful outcomes for new initiatives and business improvement activities.

The ideal candidate for this role (key capabilities)

- Experience in an accounting and financial environment with an understanding of relevant financial accounting legislation
- Sound knowledge of administering accounts payable/receivable, journal preparation and general ledger reconciliation
- Ability to manage ambiguity and implement change in a client facing environment
- Ability to identify complex problems and recommend effective solutions
- Possesses excellent communication skills and has a high level of resilience while operating in a high-pressured environment with competing priorities
While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, a qualification (or studying towards a qualification) in accounting, business, commerce or related discipline is highly desirable and will be favourably regarded
